Social Relationships and Community
Kairos reengages students into the school and broader community.
Building safe and respectful relationships is a key aspect to Kairos.
Building safe and respectful relationships is a key aspect to daily life in our tribe at Kairos.
Students connect with their educators and peers to support their needs, and to build positive relationships within the school community and the broader community.
Community Engagement.
A variety of opportunities are provided to engage our young people back into the community. These include but are not limited to, mentoring groups, volunteering at different organisations, work experience, end of term trips and rewards trips.
Students are able to participate in Kokoda Youth Challenge, an annual event in which students are encouraged to complete a hike with the support of Kairos staff, to raise funds supporting a range of Kokoda Youth Mental Health initiatives.
Whilst community engagement differs between campuses, students may choose to engage with activities such as State MPs hosting students at Parliament House dinners, and attending local parades and festivals.
All Year 10 students undertake a Certificate II in Volunteering, a vocational qualification which encourages giving back to the community. Each campus hosts a weekly Tribal Lunch, with community guests invited which provides students with an opportunity to meet new people and learn from within their safe place.
