I am very excited to begin another school year at Kairos Deception Bay and honoured to take up the role of Head of Campus. Having worked here for over seven years, I’ve witnessed the remarkable growth of this campus and our impact, and am eager to lead and collaborate closely with staff, students, parents, carers, and the community.
Congratulations to Andrew Bobadilla (known to all on campus as Bobby), our new Deputy Head of Campus. His extensive experience will be invaluable, and I look forward to learning from and working closely with him. Bobby’s promotion has led to a new teaching position and some subject changes.
I’d like to give a warm welcome to Gabby Cook, who joins our team teaching Literacy, Essential English, and running our targeted Literacy and Numeracy support groups. With over ten years of teaching experience in NSW and QLD, Gabby brings a passion for English, Science, and Psychology.
Our amazing teacher Madison will be teaching Social and Community Studies, our new Tourism subject, and has also taken on the role of Pathways Mentor. She will assist students with Vocational Courses, Tertiary Pathways, and Employment, working closely with our Diverse Learning and Pathways Coordinator, Darren Freeman.
Welcome back to our existing students, I am excited for you to continue your Kairos journey. To our new students, welcome! Embrace the opportunities ahead and become part of our vibrant community.
Term One is always busy, with our team working tirelessly to change the narrative of education, ensuring positive learning experiences and strong connections among our young people. Our Ripple Model emphasises the importance of building relationships that lead to academic success. I encourage students to take advantage of these opportunities to connect with each other. The start-of-term excursion to King’s Beach is a fantastic way to begin the year and kick off the Battle of the Grades – a Kairos favourite!
To our new parents and carers, I invite you to attend our induction evening where I will share information about our school processes and curriculum, and you will have the opportunity to meet our Leadership team. Further information will be sent out soon.
If you have any questions, please contact our Administration Officer Nyah to schedule an appointment to speak with me or any of our staff. We value communication with our parent and carer community. Thank you, and I look forward to speaking with you all soon!
