Soil turn ceremony

Soil turned on Caloundra campus expansion!

Kairos Community College marked a significant step in our ongoing mission to provide tailored educational programs and wellbeing support for disengaged students with a successful Soil Turn Ceremony for the expansion of our Caloundra campus held last Friday 28 March 2025

The ceremony brought together many ‘Friends of Kairos’ including Mayor Rosanna Natoli, Andrew Wallace MP, Sunshine Coast Councillors Terry Landsberg and Tim Burns, our Executive Principal Tony Andrews, Board Chair Michael Jeffrey and Director Simon Steinhofer, and valued members and supporters of our school community. We were honoured to commence the event with a Welcome to Country by Undumbi Culture representatives Mack Muckan and Brent Miller, followed by insightful speeches from Executive Principal Tony Andrews, Mayor Rosanna Natoli, and Andrew Wallace MP.

“Today’s ceremony signifies more than just the beginning of construction; it represents the building of futures,” stated Mr Andrews. “This will enable us to expand our reach and provide even greater opportunities for our students to achieve their Queensland Certificate of Education (QCE) and thrive.”

Mayor Rosanna Natoli underscored Sunshine Coast Council’s commitment to supporting educational initiatives that empower young people and strengthen the community. “Well done to the Kairos Community College team for securing opportunities for our youth. This incredible space is dedicated to supporting senior students, offering a safe and flexible environment to help them establish a bright future. It’s inspiring to see the commitment to helping young people thrive, and I can’t wait to see the expansion!”

Andrew Wallace MP added “I’m honoured to attend today, with $1.44 million in Federal funding, this expansion of the campus is a significant milestone, providing state-of-the-art learning spaces and enhanced wellbeing facilities. I am immensely proud to support Kairos Community College, after two consecutive years of winning the Fisher Education Provider of the Year. Their unwavering commitment to empowering students who might otherwise be disengaged from the education system is second to none.”

We were very proud to see some of our own students who have worked hard to attain their Certificate II in Hospitality, catering the event. Their dedication and skill were a beautiful reminder of the potential that lies within each and every one of our students.

This expansion project will deliver enhanced learning environments and wellbeing facilities, further solidifying our commitment to a holistic approach that has resulted in a consistent 100% QCE attainment rate to date for our students. We extend our sincere gratitude to our Kairos community and partners for their invaluable support in making this expansion a reality. This development reinforces our dedication to providing a safe and nurturing environment where every student feels valued and empowered.
