Youth Week Returns to Deception Bay

On Tuesday 8 April, Kairos Community College’s Deception Bay campus was thrilled to be part of something truly special – the revival of Youth Week celebrations in Deception Bay after more than a decade.

In partnership with Younity Community Services, the school oval came alive with energy, laughter, and vibrant activity, transforming into a welcoming hub of fun and community connection. This event was a powerful reminder of the strength that comes from collaboration and local pride.

A special thank you goes out to our Year 10 students who volunteered at our Kairos information stall. Their friendly faces, enthusiasm, and hard work helped ensure the day’s success and demonstrated the positive impact young people can have when given the opportunity to lead.

From colourful face painting and exciting prize giveaways to culturally engaging activities hosted by Deadly Choices and other fantastic local organisations, the day offered something for everyone.

The highlight of the celebration was the vibrant colour run, hosted by PCYC Deception Bay, which saw participants of all ages running through clouds of colour with smiles all around.

With such a great turnout and community buzz, there’s already talk of making this an annual event – and we couldn’t be more excited about what’s to come.

A heartfelt thank you to our wonderful volunteers and to our dedicated Kairos team members – James, Emma, Kelly, Nyah, and Darren – for their incredible support. We’re already looking forward to Youth Week 2026!
